Europe Day in Vilnius

I visited Europe Day in Vilnius in May 2016

I had arrived in Vilnius the day before, had lunch in this street, it was still open for traffic then. Today the whole street was closed off, only pedestrians allowed. Stands were set up all along one side of the road, selling food from the different European nations. The whole street smelled delicious. The street was crowded, many were out to sample some of the beer and food from all over Europe. Today was Europe Day, and tomorrow and the day after, in fact, and Vilnius was throwing a festival.

Prie Katedros Brewery Restaurant in Vilnius

I visited Prie Katedros in Vilnius, Lithuania in May 2016

I started with their blonde ale, called Prie Katedros Light. It was hot, the sun was shining, a nice, cold blonde ale seemed just right at the moment. I took a large sip. The beer was good, nothing fancy, but in the sun and heat it was perfect. A little sweet but easy to drink. I settled back in my chair, relaxed. Just watching the people around me.

Prikið Café in Reykjavik

I have visited Prikið in Reykjavik many times. The last time was in July 2016

I had been to Prikið many times before, dropped by for a beer and some rest on my walks through Reykjavik, but never really seen all of it. Downstairs there are only a few tables, a bar, not many seats, and looks old, worn, a bit dodgy in a way. One small unisex toilet, a huge bar. Old wodden walls, a bit uninterested bartenders. Just how I like it. It is only when you see the amount of space upstairs that you see the whole place. Many tables, another bar, a large smoking area outside. Suddenly Prikið becomes much bigger. I remember being so surprised the first time I walked upstairs.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France

I visited Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in April 2014

It was warm, sunny, not a cloud in the sky. I walked through the streets of St. Jean. Soon the streets, the houses were gone, only nature left. Not untouched nature, a few ruins were standing here and there, remnants of old buildings, soon I found a concrete walkway following the waterfront.

A Layover in Tallinn

I had a layover in Tallinn, Estonia on my way home from Vilnius in May, 2016

No one was at the service counter as I arrived. Only a phone and a note asking us to call for assistance. I picked up the phone, called the number provided, explained my situation. The lady said she would send someone over.

I was at Tallinn airport, on my way home from Vilnius. I had only received a boarding pass for my first flight when I checked in at Vilnius Airport, I had to pick up my boarding pass for my flight to Trondheim here in Tallinn. And there was no one at the service counter.

Svarta Kaffid in Reykjavik

I visited Svarta Kaffid in Reykjavik in March, 2016

The waitress brought me the soup in bread, a huge bread, hollowed out and filled with soup. It smelled delicious. I took the top of the bread off, could see the soup. South American Lemon Beef. I picked up my spoon, tried a mouthful of the soup. A bit warm, but not too bad. And it tasted really good.
